Please note that a considerable amount of the regulatory information on the Hazardous Waste Portal refers to federal regulations. In many cases, states or local governments have promulgated relevant rules and standards that are different and/or more stringent than the federal regulations. Therefore, to assure full compliance, you should investigate and comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. Further, state specific guidance from another state that you are not doing business in may not apply to you - check with your state environmental agency for complete and accurate information. |

Hazardous Waste Code Search Tool
The following lists contain all materials referred to in the text of the hazardous waste codes. Selecting a material will return all codes that refer to the material. Some codes are defined by two different names (often a trade name and a chemical name). In those cases, both names are provided in the code text.
The source for the code text is the eCFR website (the electronic Code of Federal Regulations, provided by the National Archives).
Selecting a material will return all codes which make reference to that material (whether occurring as a constituent of the waste, or used in the process). In any case, the text of some codes may contain provisions or exceptions, so the full text of each potential code should be reviewed carefully, to ensure it applies to a specific waste.
